Android guide · current test build. PEV Ride Computer is coming to Google Play first. An iOS version is planned after the Android commercial launch; its setup guide will be added when available.
Start with a personal ride. Group rides, safety texts and music are optional—you do not need to set them up to record.
Your personal ride history stays on your phone, with no account required for solo rides and no automatic Neuralis ride-cloud upload. You can record, review and create a personal replay before choosing whether to share anything.
1. Add your vehicle
Open Garage and add a vehicle. Give it a name you will recognize, choose its type and review the basic details. Add advanced specifications only when you know them. An unknown value is better left blank than guessed.
Vehicle profiles describe your equipment. The app does not connect to a motor controller, read its live battery level or change vehicle settings. Energy and remaining-range estimates depend on your entries and riding conditions.
Already have a PEV vehicle setup file? In Garage, choose Import vehicle from JSON, select the file and review it. Choose Add vehicle to Garage to create a new vehicle. Replacing an existing setup is a separate action; review the destination and changes before confirming.
2. Get the phone ready
Allow precise location and review the app's recording-readiness messages. Make sure location is enabled, storage is available and your phone has enough battery. Follow any guidance shown for notification or battery settings.
If you want street detail without downloading it during your ride, download a supported region in Manage maps while connected to the internet. Recording does not require you to share your location with a group.
3. Start recording
Select your vehicle, open Ride and choose Start recording. Review phone placement and any optional battery entry. Check that recording has started before putting the phone away.
Ride shows your full statistics. Map shows your position, recorded trail and compact recording controls. Choose Full map for a larger view with quick Ride, Group and Rally panels, and Exit to return. When Follow is enabled, it keeps your position in view while retaining your zoom and bearing. Pan or inspect a rally, then choose Resume follow when ready.
Recording can continue with the screen locked, but phone settings and interruptions can affect it. Start with a short familiar route to check your own phone's behavior.
Stop somewhere safe before using the screen. Phone measurements and estimates are useful ride records, not a guarantee of speed, remaining range or route safety.
4. Finish and review
Choose Finish recording when the ride is over. In the finish sheet, review the ride name and Save my recording. If you are in a group, choose whether to leave it too. Hosts must explicitly select End group for everyone to end the shared session; other riders' personal recordings continue.
Wait for the result. The app reports if saving or stopping group sharing needs attention, and preserves an action that already succeeded. Choosing only to save leaves the group active; choosing only to leave keeps your recording running. Open History to review the saved ride, inspect its route and charts, add notes or prepare an export.
Pause is not a privacy switch. It pauses the ride's statistics and segment flow; location acquisition can continue. Select both saving and leaving in the finish sheet when you want both activities to end. Leaving a group does not send an all-clear.
5. Tell the ride's story
In History, open a saved ride and choose Replay → Your ride story. Edit the video's title and review supported stops of five minutes or more, along with qualifying recording pauses. Include the stops you want, name them or add one manually. Nearby names from installed offline maps are optional suggestions; a GPS gap is not treated as a visit.
Choose up to 12 photos, add captions and check their placement along the route or at a stop. Reliable capture times can suggest a position; otherwise choose one yourself. The app saves optimized private copies without changing your originals. Excluding a photo keeps it available for later editing; removing it deletes its private app copy.
To use only part of the ride, open Replay range → Trim ride. Move the start and finish handles, review the route and choose Apply range. Preview and video statistics use the selected section. To restore the full selection, choose Reset to full ride, then Apply range. Your original recording and choices outside the range remain saved.
Use Smooth Stops to shorten waiting in the replay while retaining included stops and photos. It starts on when you first set up a replay; an existing replay keeps its saved setting. This changes the presentation, not the recorded route or time, and does not fill missing GPS.
Preview your choices, select any local music you have permission to use, and create the video. A new export is needed after edits. Check the route, photos and captions before sharing—videos can reveal precise locations and personal details. Spotify audio is not used in replay exports.
6. Save a backup
Open Settings → Backup & restore → Full app data and save a backup to a location you trust. Finish recording, leave any group and resolve active safety operations first.
A backup contains private routes, settings, saved replay titles and stop edits, attached photo copies, event choices, replay ranges and Smooth Stops settings, and any saved safety contacts or message history. It retains the original ride and attached photos outside a trimmed replay range. It is not password protected by the app. Keep a private copy outside the app before changing phones, and keep original photos, music and exported videos separately. Downloaded maps and group account access or friend pairing are not transferred. Older app versions may not support newer replay settings or photo-containing backups; keep a pre-upgrade backup when changing test builds.
When you are ready to ride together
Open Map → Group ride on a supported 64-bit Android device. Group rides use your own Tailscale account, an external sign-in flow and network connectivity. Follow the connection and invitation steps in the app, then create a group or request to join one. A guest's location is not shared with the requested group before the host admits them.
Once admitted, members can see shared rider positions and status, a planned route and rally information. You can participate without recording a personal ride, or record at the same time. An automatically named recording can adopt its first group's name; a name you confirm yourself is preserved.
Where the host supports attendance, open the rally to review who is on the way or currently there. Automatic arrival uses fresh, accurate shared positions nearby for a slow 30-second dwell. I'm here confirms manually; Undo my arrival corrects a mistaken claim. Check connection freshness and contact riders directly when needed—attendance does not establish that someone is safe. Moving the rally resets its attendance.
Before setting off, review Group alert sounds and try the short SOS and rally sound tests. They do not create group events. Incoming alerts can repeat until you silence, dismiss or respond; phone sound settings and Do Not Disturb still apply. Silence affects only your phone. I'm coming or On my way also sends a response to the group—check its status.
For a manual Group SOS, tap SOS · 3 taps three times within four seconds, then review and confirm Send SOS. A short message is optional. This alerts the group, without sending emergency-contact SMS or making an emergency call. Do not send an SOS merely to test sound; use the local sound tests instead. Learn the controls while stopped and keep another way to request help.
